Baby Declan Has Arrived!

Well what's been a whirl wind of a month is now finally slowly calming down and things are coming around here at home, the boys are adjusting to our newest addition just nicely (or as best as can be expected), daddy is picking up a lot of 'new' daddy duties for the time being while mommy and babe get to know each other!!

Yes, Baby Boy # 3 has arrived!! Declan Allen Aitcheson arrived on Fri. Dec. 12th at 3:55pm, 8lbs 10ozs, after I Christmas shopped ALL morning through contractions I didn't even realize were contractions at all! I was induced for my first two so going naturally was a whole new ball game for me. Finally at around noon hour I felt a really strong "cramp" come on which made me push back into my seat in the van and I thought...ok this is not just mild cramps or anything now. I made one more stop, last stop on my list of final Christmas preparations....paused a few times in the store to let the contractions pass and drove home rather calmly considering what I was just then starting to realize was labour.

My contractions were every 5 minutes at this point. I called the hospital...explained how my morning went and that I may be in labour and they calmly told me to pack up the rest of my things and come on up....this baby would be coming today!

Well, on our arrival in triage at 2:30pm I was already 4 cm dilated. The contractions were every 3 minutes by now and it wasn't more than 15 minutes and they had me admitted and in a delivery room...this baby was coming fast (I didn't realize at the time just how fast things were progressing).

Oh I must add in here that before we were actually able to leave our house I had to interrupt my husband in a meeting he was having with our insurance agent and when he heard what was going on, he flew out of there pretty fast! He came back this week and said everyone at the office laughed at him when he told the story. THEN...we are heading down our ice covered skating rink of a lane way (yes we are in full blown winter here by now) and another vehicle is coming down it as well. Instead of waiting at the house to let the other truck in my husband thinks he can pass it on the skating rink (lane way)....HA! We end up in the ditch. I am laughing at this point because I can't believe it actually happened on this day of ALL days (and it's better than crying) and my husband is just livid at himself! Long story short we swap vehicles and we're off again to the hospital...the van got pulled out somehow.

My 4 cm went to 8 cm in less than an hour and I knew I was SO not getting that epidural I pleaded for. The nurses didn't discourage me by saying no but they knew and I knew this baby was coming at any time! It was 3:30pm (one hour at the hospital) and my nurse says, this baby will be here before 4:00pm and I just laughed at her (the gas may have added to that) but I knew she was right.

My water broke at about 3:40pm and then the rest is history, I only pushed for 10 minutes and low and behold Declan arrived safely at 3:55pm!! I was SO relieved to not have received the epidural after all of that! What a speedy delivery I must say...I wouldn't have had it any other way! The nurses were like what were you doing all day that you didn't call us sooner...and I just said shopping.

So yes I have been absent for quite awhile from keeping up with my Blog. I have meant to get on here time and time again but I seem to get interrupted for some reason...hmmm....three little boys can keep one mommy quite busy!!

Life is little more hectic here now I must say but it is SO worth it!! I am so in love with our newest little man and Nathan and Reid just can't get enough of their new little brother...the kisses keep coming and coming (Nathan actually cries when Declan cries because he hates to hear him upset...it's pretty sweet).

I will post my post-baby stats ASAP....wow it is amazing what our bodies actually go through for nine months and then how quickly things can return to 'somewhat' normal.

I look forward to returning to my workouts and firming up this little bowl of jelly I have right now... HO, HO, HO!

Follow my progress here or join me on Club FYM! I plan to regain my pre-baby body back and more!

A Fit Yummy PREGNANT Mommy!

Here is a recap of the remainder of my pregnancy. I posted this on my Blog on Club FYM earlier in December. Let's just say it's been a bit of a hectic month and I apologize for the late entry, having a baby at Christmas makes for a blur of a month!

"Well I am officially due this week or over due at this point according to my OB.

If I go by my original due date of Dec.15.08 then I am 40 weeks this weekend but according to my OB I was due Dec.6.08 and thus I am now past my due date. Either way, it is a waiting game from here on in as to when my little one will decide to come....or not! I was induced twice before and if nothing happens in the next 7 days I will be induced next week Wednesday Dec. 17.08.....hope this is a good day!

Top 3 Reasons WHY More Moms are NOT "into" Resistance Training

By Holly Rigsby, CPT www.FitYummyMummy.com

Moms have mistakenly believed that resistance training shouldn’t be the foundation of their fat loss program. Here are the three most common myths about resistance training and the “truth” about each.

1. Moms believe the answer to Fat Loss lies in CARDIO. Can't blame you, Mom! The fact that we are being bombarded with misleading ads and articles on a daily basis boasting that the best way to burn fat is to simply DO more cardio.

From a Popular Beauty Magazine:“The formula for great abs is crunches + cardio = results. Cardio burns fat, uncovering the incredible abs you’ll have thanks to those crunches. So hop on that exercise bike, elliptical or treadmill for 30 to 45 minutes at least three times a week…”The “cardio burns fat” myth is so rampant, that the very support groups and forums women turn to for answers are littered with faulty advice. From a Forum:“We do 15 mins on the bike, 15 on the elliptical, 15 on the treadmill, 1000 metres on the rowing machine (we're building that up slowly because we hate it).”

Who has time for this? We are Moms, we are busy, we do not have the time, energy or patience to attempt a fat loss program that is solely based on cardio. And if you “hate” something – how much longer are you going to keep up with it – especially if you are no longer seeing results?!

Cardio is only ONE piece of the Fat Loss puzzle. When it comes to Fat Loss cardio’s role is much less important than resistance training. More is simply not better. Cardio does very little to boost your metabolism and extended sessions not only eat up your precious time with little to show for it, but also eat up your lean muscle, slowing your metabolism to a crawl.

2. Moms are scared of "Bulking Up". Just the mention of the word muscle makes a lot of women cringe. Images of huge bodybuilder-type bodies make them run in the opposite direction. Yet amidst this protest, Moms want to look lean and toned. Well without muscle, it is impossible to attain this desirable physique.

Women simply do not have the ability to bulk up. Men, however, are able to add lots of muscle because:
One - they have the hormones to do so (we do not, well not naturally)
Two - they lift weights in an entirely different fashion
Three - they must eat a tremendous amount of food - muscle need a LOT of calories to grow and get bigger.

So Moms, unless you are taking Testosterone boosting supplements, lifting VERY heavy weights and eating an upwards of 5,000 calories a day - you will NOT bulk up.

3. Moms think Resistance Training is just TOO Complicated! “It's so much easier.” “It is less intimidating.” “It’s less complicated.” These are the very attitudes that lead busy moms to jump on a treadmill and walk or run for 45-60 minutes. The thought of picking up some weights seems complicated and undesirable especially when there are more “mindless” options from which to choose.

Sure, if you are new to the concept of Resistance Training, an introduction to this type of workout can make you throw your hands up in frustration.....what exercise, what weight, set, super sets, repetitions, rests....Oh My!

The best way to begin a resistance training program is to use your own body as weight. No gym membership, no fancy equipment....just a small space and a few minutes of your time.

Movements such as squats, lunges and assisted push ups are great examples of effective bodyweight exercises that any Busy Mom can do. Establishing a place to begin builds confidence, boosts energy levels and in turn increases metabolism. Moms naturally want to do more!

From there it is quite simple to keep your workouts challenging by using equipment many moms already have at home; a stability ball, dumbbells and a medicine ball.

When you have an effective resistance training workout plan, that not only fits your fitness goals, but your lifestyle, your plan becomes a priority and you achieve a lean, fit body before you know it!

Now you understand not only the importance resistance training plays in your fat loss efforts, but also how easily it can be integrated into your routine. It is time to adjust your mindset and your priorities. When you put your time, energy and effort into a resistance training regimen you guarantee yourself a faster metabolism and a toned, tight, energetic body.

A Fit Yummy Mummy Dinner!!

This past Tuesday, April 8th, was a WONDERFUL day!
One I will never forget for a long time!

Not only was the weather here gorgeous, yipee Spring has Sprung!!

I was also heading out with a couple of friends, Jess & Patti fellow FYM's, to have a little shopping spree for the day in Mississauga! After all, with all this success and now heading back to work next week, I deserved something new to celebrate!

But.....the BIG highlight of the day was our First Ever Fit Yummy Mummy Meet Up in Toronto with Holly Rigsby!

Who would ever have thought that the day would come so soon that I would meet the woman who has helped me change my life!

After a fun day shopping, and yes I did get a few fun pieces and some much needed new jeans, we headed into Toronto to the Hilton. What mahem driving at rush hour in the city, oh my! Would not want to do that everyday, but I guess you get used to it!

We quickly got changed as we were to be meeting everyone in the lobby at 6:00pm, our dinner reservations were for 7:00pm. Jess, Patti and I were first to be ready and waiting for the BIG meet up! Jennifer soon joined us at 6:00pm and then we waited.......and waited.....and waited. Hmmm, where was Julie and Carolyn? They said 6:00pm. Were they some where else? Hopefully Holly had arrived already and was up stairs getting ready.

6:30pm rolls around and after a quick phone call we discover Julie is stuck in traffic and in walks Holly and her husband from the airport!

Holly graciously walks over after checking in, gives us all BIG HUGS and is off to get ready. I call the restaurant to tell them we'll be a little late.

At 7:15pm we head over to the Monsoon Restaurant. Renee met us there and was waiting for us. It was a very nice atmosphere!
But what was all of this on the menu? Forbidden Rice, Firecracker Chicken, Lamb Lollipops? It was quite fun deciding what to have. Of course being that this was the 1st Fit Yummy Mummy Meet Up, we quickly decided this was a celebration and a cheat meal for sure, with some wine to boot!

Renee, Jess & Holly

Dinner was wonderful. Very delicious and everyone enjoyed it! As we ate we could only chat about what else?! FIT YUMMY MUMMY!! We all shared our stories, our experiences, our ups and downs. We talked about strategy and how to stay motivated. We had so much to share, I wish we could have stayed longer!

Patti & Julie

Carolyn & Jennifer

By the time, dinner wrapped up we took a quick group picture and we headed back to the Hilton. It was late and everyone was tired, Holly had a big day the next day too! We said our goodbyes and thanked Holly for taking the time to meet us!

Myself, Patti, Jess, Holly, Carolyn, Renee, Jennifer & Julie

Really, how great was that! I would never have thought, I'd be meeting Holly so soon! It was a wonderful experience and to be so honest, the Holly we know and love on CLUB FYM is the exact same Holly I met in person this week! So energetic, so positive, so happy and of course so extremely beautiful!

Holly & I
I cannot wait for future Fit Yummy Mummy reunions! Yeah Spring 2009!!!

It was such a great motivation and an excellent experience meeting Holly and I thank her SO much for taking the time to do that for us!

The Fat Loss Begins

So what has Fit Yummy Mummy done for me?

How can you benefit from such an amazing lifestyle?

I am going to show what it has done for me so far!

I never even mentioned this program to my friends for the first 2 months that I was on it as I didn't want to hype up something that wasn't going to work. You know Fit Yummy Mummy could've been just some other diet & exercise hoax, how would I know?

However, here is My Success Story as featured on Club FYM on March 12, 2008, it is a testament as to why I joined!

This Mummy is Losing her Tummy!

Marloes: Featured Fit Yummy Mummy

...For the first time in 15 years I am in the 140's!!! This is HUGE for me and to see these results has only reaffirmed to me that Fit Yummy Mummy is THE way to regain your body back and lose the unwanted FAT for good!

A bit about me:

Like any other fitness professional out there, we should know what is good for our bodies and what it takes to get out bodies into tip top shape right?

Well like the old saying goes I should “practice what I preach”!! I have been working as a Kinesiologist for 8 years now guiding clients through a series of exercise programs to help them recover from injury and lead them back to better health.

BUT….what have I done for myself? The answer quite simply is NOTHING.

Yes, I have had my slew of gym memberships during my high school and university years and as I was involved with many sports teams, my life always seemed busy and active.

Why wasn’t I in shape then?

I guess I just accepted my body for the way it was because for all the cardio and weight training I did my body shape and weight for that matter never changed much. Yes it went down and I felt leaner but then it would go right back to where it was before if not worse.

Last winter a friend of my husband’s, Craig Ballantyne (Turbulence Training), recommended a program that was designed just for busy moms.

Yes! Here is where I found Holly and the Fit Yummy Mummy System!!!

Since joining in November ‘07, Holly has been there for me 100%!!

I injured my knee and during the month of December I took some time off from the workouts which actually allowed me to focus on my supportive nutrition that much more.

When January came around and I was back to feeling 100%, adding the workouts back into the system was just that much easier!! As soon I was back on track my body INSIDE and OUT began to change!!

I was feeling so much more energy, so much more enthusiasm and an overall sense of wellbeing! Plus why wouldn’t I? I was eating healthy and getting the proper exercise for once in my life!

My results over the past 7 weeks!

Jan 13'08~ 157lbs
Chest 38"
Bicep 12"
Waist (low) 37"
Hips 40"
Thigh 22"

Mar. 5'08 ~ 148lbs
Chest 36.25" ~ down 1.75"
Bicep 12" ~ no change
Waist (low) 34" ~ down 3"
Hips 38.75" ~ down 1.25"
Thigh 20.75" ~ down 1.25"

Therefore I ‘REMOVED’ 9lbs & 7.25 inches in 7 Weeks!!!

I love the feeling of getting dressed each and every day now as I am trying on clothes I haven't worn in ages!! I even bought my first size 10 pants in a long long time!

The biggest, most amazing thing (and I know numbers on the scale do not matter, I have preached it myself), however....

I have not seen my weight in the 140's since I started high school!!!

I have been a constant 160-165lbs since I was 15 and now for the first time in 15 years I am in the 140's!!!

I was beaming from ear to ear when I saw that number!! This is HUGE for me and to see these results has only reaffirmed to me that Fit Yummy Mummy is THE way to regain your body back and lose the unwanted FAT for good! I always wished I could be 145lbs and a size 10, and now I know this goal is attainable plus so much more!

What you Must Know about Fit Yummy Mummy:

About 4 weeks ago I added the Prograde Workout and VGF +25 into my routine and WOW!

By adding those two additions to my life, I have not only SEEN some amazing results that much faster, I FEEL so much better too! I think adding these elements into my life as been the most helpful strategy to my nutrition plan.

A fellow FYM also gave some great advice and the way she explained it, it just made sense…..look for LIVE food not dead food! So simple!

Fit Yummy Mummy Workouts
What I LOVE the most about the workouts is that they are very straight forward and to the point. They are SO easy to fit into ANYONE’s schedule and you can do them in the comfort of your own home! Even the most difficult are attainable…yeah Side Plank!

Most surprising
I look forward to each and every workout now!
I have never actually REALLY looked forward to working out before because I knew it was long and time consuming. Now with the Fit Yummy System it’s quick, intense and I feel exhilarating when I’m done, all in just 90 minutes a week!

The Most Difficult
Staying consistent with my nutrition.
I do cook healthy and always have but with Holly’s guidance I have made a few changes to the way I cook. I no longer have processed junk food in my house, because let’s face it, if it’s here it will be eaten! Portion size is a HUGE factor to control, but by eating every 3 hours and making sure I have enough protein at each meal I am no longer craving food as much and can keep myself satisfied until my next meal.

If you are still skeptical about Fit Yummy Mummy

Why?
It JUST MAKES SENSE!! This is a lifestyle ANYONE can follow no matter what obstacles or barriers you face. Everyone should know about Fit Yummy Mummy and allow Holly Rigsby to coach you for even just one week and you will FEEL the difference already! There are no quick magical fixes to weight loss just consistent supportive nutrition and regular exercise!

I am returning to work in one month’s time from my maternity leave and thanks to Holly and Fit Yummy Mummy I will be in need of ALL new pants!! My butt is just swimming in everything I put on and I LOVE it!
Woo Hoo shopping spree!

The other very rewarding feeling that comes along with this success is that people are noticing and commenting and it's just great!!

What a boost in my motivation!

My family has been SO supportive and they are benefiting from my success as well because not only do I have SO much more energy to spend with them, I am instilling life long healthy choices that they will carry forward with them through their life!

These past 7 weeks have shown wonderful results inside and out......I look forward to so much more!

I have 7 more weeks left in the Transformation Challenge.....let's see where I can go from here!

Thank you Holly for your Fit Yummy Mummy System and coming into my life!!

This is a lifestyle that ANYONE can lead and they WILL see results because IT JUST MAKES SENSE!
